Meet your 2021-2022 Spring High School Starlette Directors!
Brittany Freeman
Head Director
Ms. Freeman is entering her 13th year in education teaching dance and drill team at the high school and middle school levels. Her teams have won multiple awards including Grand Champion Team, 1st place in military, jazz, pom, modern, open, lyrical, best technique, and best precision. Her teams have also been awarded XL National Champion Officer Line and Team.
Ms. Freeman is a graduate of McKinney High School. She was 4 year member of the 7 time National Champion Marquettes where she was a Sergeant and a Lieutenant
She attended Tyler Junior College and was a Dance Captain of the Apache Belles.
Ms. Freeman is excited to be Head Director of the Spring Starlettes and dance teacher. She currently lives in Humble and loves her 7 year old son.
Derek Nicholson
Assistant Director
Derek Nicholson is a Spring High School graduate and received his B.A. in Dance at the University of Houston (2019).
He was a member of UH’s pre-professional company, Ensemble where he preformed and presented choreography. Mr. Nicholson has trained with Ad Deum Dance Company and Hunter Dance Center. He has attended workshops held by Arcos Dance and Core Dance. Mr. Nicholson teaches and performs locally and nationally and his choreography has been accepted into Dance Source Houston’s Barnstorm Dance Fest and Mind The Gap.
He has performed with Karen Stokes Dance, John Beasant, and performed trapeze at the Manhattan Movement & Arts Center. Mr. Nicholson was also a part of the Super Bowl LI Halftime Show.

Mr. Nicholson is excited to return to Spring HS as Assistant Drill Team Director and dance teacher.
